In today’s reading we see something that is taking place always: the problem of the truth and the power that lay hidden behind words. Jeremiah listens to God’s words and announces them to the people. He also prays for them. His words are full of God’s truth; however, he, the prophet, is weak. On the other side we see priests, wise men and prophets banded together to exert their own power without listening to God’s words. Their words are powerful and obliterate the weak words of the prophet; but in them there is no truth. Thet forget that God, who sends the prophet, he is the powerful one. The wise choice is to obey him, even if the words of his messenger are weak.
