要區分水和水泉是件非常困難的事。撒羅滿緊緊抓住上主的恩賜（繁榮、龐大的商業網絡），卻忘了忠於上主──祂祝福的泉源。

結果如何？上主的懲罰：暴力、叛亂和王國的覆滅。祝福的終點：沒有找水泉，泉水消失了。

我們今天在聖經所讀到的並非僅僅是過去的事件，它也關乎當下的政治局勢及其問題。可惜的是，如今很難找到那些努力按照上主的旨意帶領百姓的統治者。

然而，這並不能免除我們的責任。即使我們軟弱，也必須努力跟隨上主，汲取泉水。上主會記念我們，正如祂記念達味一樣。

Not mistaking the water for the spring is very difficult. Solomon held on to the gifts of God (prosperity, great commercial links) and forgot to be faithful to God, the source of his blessings.

Which was the result? God’s punishment: violence, rebellion and the loss of the kingdom. The end of blessing: no spring, no water.

What we read today does not refer to past events only: it speaks of the present political situation and of its problems. Unfortunately, it is so difficult to find rulers that try to lead their peoples according to God’s will.

This, however, does not take away our responsibility, even if we are weak, we must strive to follow God, drink from the spring. God will remember us, as he remembered David.
