According to the ancient tradition, only prophets had the authority of consecrating kings. Here we see the prophet choosing the king and giving him the kingdom (the symbol of the mantle will reappear under the cross, the cloth of Jesus not to be divided).

Besides this, a new reason appears for the survival of the kingdom of the South: God chose Jerusalem as his city, the holy place of his presence.

We see God fulfilling, step by step, his own plan, even if those involved do not clearly understand what is going on. We too can consider that every moment of our life is important, because God is working through us for the salvation of many.
