“May God, your Lord, be blessed!”

The beginnings of universalism in Israel are tied to the monarchic ideology: “May our kingdom extend (through war and conquest) to the ends of the earth!” The visit of the Queen of Saba to Solomon and her blessing show that there is another way: the way of wisdom, of friendship, of cooperation and dialogue.

This is true also for the small realms that are our interpersonal relationships. Making friends with all we encounter is the way through which God’s kingdom expands.
