站在天主面前是我們的使命，也是我們生命的意義。上主希望我們在人生的種種經驗中，都能坦然面對祂的奧秘，而不被任何可能的難題所困擾。站在祂面前更為重要，也更有意義。

The author wants to show that with Elijiah there is a new beginning.

Indeed, from now on, God will reveal himself through weakness, through a remnant of the defeated and exiled people.

A detail is worth noticing: At the beginning of his mission, Elijiah called himself the one who stands in the presence of the Lord.

In today’s reading, this verb (to stand) occurs twice; the first time is an order from God: “Go outside and stand on the mountain before the Lord.” The second time, it is Elijiah who goes out of the cave and stands there.

To stand in front of the Lord is our vocation and is the purpose of life. God wants us to face His mystery throughout the events of our life, without being troubled by any kind of possible problems. To stand in front of Him is more important, and rewarding.
