先知哈巴谷與先知耶肋米亞生活在同一時代，那是一個充滿痛苦的改變時期：

主元前612年，尼尼微城被毀；

主元前597年，耶路撒冷首次被攻陷。

他目睹了亞述帝國的終結，緊接著是巴比倫帝國的崛起，中東的霸權格局發生了迅速的更迭。

在這樣的變革中，先知看到窮人的苦難依然沒有停止。

因此，他向上主發出質問：義人還有希望嗎？上主是否仍在實現祂救贖以色列的計劃？

上主的回答莊嚴而堅定，必須銘刻在泥板上，流傳千古：你們只要繼續信靠上主，忠於祂。

你們必在這樣的態度中找到生命。

當我們擁有這樣的態度時，我們也能獲得平安。

在歷史長河中，真正重要的是我們與上主之間持續不斷的連結。

The prophet Habakkuk lived in the same times as the prophet Jeremiah, times of painful transition:

612 BC Destruction of Nineveh

597 BC First conquest of Jerusalem.

He saw the end of the Assyrian Empire, immediately succeeded by the Babylonian Empire, a swift change in the superpowers controlling the Middle East.

In such a transformation, the prophet sees that oppression of the poor people continues unabated. Therefore, he asks the Lord an answer: is there any hope for the righteous? Is God still fulfilling His plan of salvation for Israel?

God’s answer is solemn and must be written on the tablets, to remain for centuries: You just need to go on believing, being faithful to the Lord. In your attitude you will find life.

When we reach such attitude, we too have peace.

What matters in history is our continuous relationship with God.
