如同其他先知書一樣，《厄則克耳書》中也包含一系列針對其他國家的預言。

為什麼呢？

或許先知們想向以色列人表明，上主不只是他們民族的天主，也是全地的天主，祂懲罰一切罪惡，即使是外邦民族和文化中的罪惡也不例外。上主的公義普世皆然。

先知對提洛的君王說話，他因財富而驕傲自大，甚至自詡為神。

先知宣告他必敗必死，以此讓他明白，他不過是凡人，與其他人一樣。

不幸的是，無論是當時的還是如今的掌權者，都不願接受這樣的警告。他們反而加速走向毀滅。如同聖詠所說的：

「人在富貴中，不深思遠慮，將與牲畜無異，都要死去」（詠49：21）。

Like in other prophetic books, also in the Book of Ezekiel we find a set of oracles against other nations.

Why? Perhaps the prophets wanted to show to Israel that God is the God not only of their people but of all the earth and punishes every evil behavior, even among foreign peoples and cultures. God’s justice has a universal reach.

The prophet speaks to the prince of Tyre, who is proud of his wealth to the point of making of himself a god.

The prophet announces him defeat and death, to show him that he is only a man, as any other man.

Unfortunately, those in power, those times as well as today, do not accept such warnings. They even run faster to their own ruin. “Man cannot abide in his pomp; he is like the beasts that perish”（Sal 49：21）.
