August 17 Ordinary time Week 20 Monday First Reading

God ask the prophet a great sacrifice: his wife will suddenly day and he will not mourn her, in a vey sad way of grieving without being able to who it to his countrymen.

Through this strange way of behaving the prophet will anticipate the way the exiles will react to the fall of Jerusalem.

God has decided to punish his people in the most terrible way. They cannot but accept it.

This becomes a suggestion for us: to accept God’s decisions on our life, even if we do not like them. In the end, what matters is not whether we like God’s decisions or not. What matters is the way the Lord wants us to be united with him.
