Biblical tradition considers Solomon as the symbol of wise man, perhaps because of the prayer he made, the prayer we read today.
Indeed, Solomon built his Royal Palace and the Temple. To achieve this, wisdom was needed.
In the Old Testament, Wisdom is essentially practical: the ability to envisage and bring to completion projects, especially all the plans regarding one’s way of conduct. There was also the capability of creating proverbs and wise saying, but only in later times wisdom included also speculations about doctrines, something closer to the Greek philosophy.
We learn from the young king to seek and to ask for what is important in life, for what remains forever.
