達味室的神原來是雅威，而她卻引進了巴耳崇拜。

她也對北國新王耶戶進行了報復，因為耶胡殺死了她的兒子，年輕的南方國王，以及依則貝耳和整個北方王室。

作為報復，阿塔里雅處死了南方王室的所有後裔：這或許只能解釋為巴耳對雅威的報復。

在如此危急的時刻，拯救達味家族和雅威信仰的，是年輕國王的妹妹，同時也是雅威的祭司。

他們救了年幼的繼承人，並一直等到他六歲，可以擁立他為王。

我們從中了解到，即使以一種奇蹟般的方式，天主也能讓祂的救贖計畫得以實現。

In the same way as Jezebel had done in the Kingdom of the North, the Queen mother in the Kingdom of the South, Athaliah (perhaps she was Jezebel’s daughter), had changed the god of the royal family. God of the dynasty of David was Yahweh. She had introduced the cult of Baal instead. She also had taken revenge against the new king of the north, Jehu, who had killed her son, the young king of the South, together with Jezebel and the entire royal family of the North. In turn, Athaliah had put to death all the descendants of the royal family of the South: an act that can possibly be explained only as a revenge of Baal against Yehweh.

What saved the family of David and the religion of Yahweh in such a dangerous crisis, was a sister of the young king and the Yahweh priest. They saved the baby heir and waited till he could be proclaimed king, at the age of 6.

We learn how God can let his plan of salvation go ahead, even though a miraculous way. We can take courage.
