聖伯多祿勸勉信徒要敬畏天主，歸向祂。他稱今生如同異鄉的一段旅程，視基督徒為朝聖者，前往聖地。

我們生命的真諦始於天堂，也終於天堂。耶穌從天而降，救贖了我們，並將我們帶回我們真正的家。如今，祂在天堂等候我們。

這種觀點與許多其他聲音所宣揚的截然不同。那些聲音聲稱天堂就在這裡。這些聲音迷惑聽者，使他們陷入絕望。聖伯多祿的話語給予我們希望和力量，使我們跟隨耶穌，從今時就開始活在天堂內。

Saint Peter exhorts the faithful to live turned toward God, with fear. He calls the present life a passage in a foreign land and sees Christians as pilgrims walking toward a holy place.

The truth of our life begins and finds its fulfillment in heaven. Jesus came from heaven, redeemed us and brought us back to our true family. Now he awaits us in heaven.

This vision is very different from what so many other voices propose. These voices say that heaven is here on earth. These voices delude those who listen to them and lead to despair. Peter's words give us hope and strength to follow Jesus and begin living in heaven now.
