與第三章保祿闡述恩典福音根基的論述相呼應，本章他闡述了按恩典而活的根基。

原則很明確：既然我們的新生命是在聖神的帶領下，聖神使我們與耶穌聯合，那麼我們的思想和行為就必須與這源頭相符。

保祿解釋了哪些是聖神的果子，哪些是肉體的工作，幫助迦拉達人認識聖神的運行。

我們需要注意的是，

一方面，我們得救的根基是不可動搖的；

另一方面，我們當下的生命卻需要我們不斷地選擇耶穌，並順服祂的旨意。

正如我們的出生是我們生命中不可動搖的根基，但要繼續活下去，我們需要持續的關注和委身，好好照顧自己的身體，遠離危險。

In parallel to Chapter three, where Paul had expounded the foundations of the gospel of Grace, now he expounds the foundations of the life according to Grace.

The principle is clear: since our new life is under the Holy Spirit, who unites us to Jesus, then what we think and do needs to be in harmony with such source.

Paul explains which the fruits of the Spirit are, and which the works of the flesh are, to help the Galatians recognize the action of the Spirit.

We need to notice that, on the one side, the foundation of the beginnings of our salvation are unshakable, on the other side, however, the present of our life needs a continuous choice of Jesus and of his will on us. In the same way as our birth is the unshakable foundation of our life, but to go on living we need continuous attention and commitment, taking good care of our body and avoiding dangers.
