In the first great section of the letter to the Galatians, Paul presents his relationship to the gospel together with his relationship with the first Community of Jerusalem and the Apostles.

His presentation is divided in three parts. Throughout this presentation, he highlights the power of his understanding of the mystery of Jesus, revealed to him by God.

The first part: Paul received a special grace from God, who revealed him that Jesus was already in him; he visited Peter only to get information about the Jesus who was already in him. This is the part we read today.

The second part: Paul receive confirmation of his Gospel from the Apostles, against those who had a different understanding of the role of Jesus.

The third part: Paul even reproached Peter, when in his behavior let some people think that to observe the Jewish law was necessary to receive Jesus’ grace. These two last parts we do not read this year.
