一位元父親為了女兒的音樂夢想而不斷艱苦努力，最後通過身邊朋友的幫助，用鋼鐵為女兒打造出一架鋼琴。
上世紀90年代初，東北某重工業城市，原鋼廠工人陳桂林（王千源 飾）下崗後，獨自拉起了一支樂隊，終日奔波在婚喪嫁娶、店鋪開業的營生之中，生活勉強維持。其妻小菊（張申英 飾）離家出走，轉投有錢的假藥商人懷抱。如今小菊光鮮回歸，不僅要與桂林離婚，還要爭奪獨生女小元的撫養權。桂林慨歎自己失敗的命運，一心要將女兒培養成鋼琴家。為了得到女兒，他四處籌措買鋼琴的錢，甚至和女友淑嫻（秦海璐 飾）以及當年鋼廠的好哥們，夜入學校偷鋼琴。
The Piano in a Factory (2011)
Chen Guilin, a laid-off factory worker, is desperate to keep custody of his talented young daughter. Knowing she needs a piano but unable to afford one, he rounds up his old, low-class group of fellow unemployed workers to build one out of solid steel. The process of building the absurd piano becomes a ritual of remembrance for a lost community and a defiant act of fatherly love.
