保錄解釋為什麼如今在耶穌裡，我們才能事奉主。

耶穌道成肉身，藉著這道，他戰勝了肉體中的罪：不僅在他自己的肉體內，也在所有藉著洗禮與祂聯合之人的肉體裡。

這怎麼可能？因為藉著我們與耶穌的身體聯合，祂的神就進入我們內在，擁有引導我們的能力，這能力遠勝過罪在我們身上的能力，因為罪存在於我們的肉體之中，並在我們的肉體中運行。

所以，在我們內有一場爭戰，是聖神的能力與罪的能力之間的爭戰。

最大的差別在於，聖靈不只引導我們跟隨耶穌，祂也會使我們的身體復活。肉體和聖靈這兩種傾向在我們裡面彼此爭戰，最後聖靈得勝。

這樣的思想令人安慰，並給予我們生活的力量。

Paul is explaining why now, in Jesus, it is possible to serve the Lord.

Jesus took flesh and by this very act he defeated sin in the flesh: in his flesh and in the flesh of all those who are united to him through the baptism. How is this possible? Because through our union to the body of Jesus his Spirit enters into us and has the power to lead us, a power immensely greater than the power that sin has on us because sin is present and works in our human flesh.

So, there is a battle going on in us, between the power of the Spirit and the power of sin.

The big difference is that the Spirit not only leads us to follow Jesus; he will let our bodies rise again. The two tendencies, flesh and spirit fight each other in us. The Spirit is the winner.

Such thought is consoling and gives us new strength for our life.
