Throughout the history of Israel, the prophets were the ones who kept alive, defended and announced the core of Yahveh’s religion. They continually recalled the people to their duty of being faithful to the Lord who had chosen them, freed them from slavery, giving them the promised land.
Unfortunately, from age to age, not only among the people of Israel, but also among those who believe in Jesus, many cling to the gifts received instead of continually turning to the One who gave them such gifts. They took such gifts as possession, not as opportunities to love in return, to share and offer. The result is clear: such people will lose the gifts and, worst of all, the relationship with the giver, source of their life.
