In today’s reading we have two opposite examples: an example of envy and an example of faithful friendship. Jonathan tries his best to help David, because they are friends, and the miracle of friendship is more important than personal advantage.

We should learn that, in front of God, other people’s glory is for our joy, as in a good family brothers rejoice at brothers’ success. It is to the advantage of the whole family.
