Starting from the seventh chapter of the Book attributed to Daniel, the author has Daniel speak in the first person, sharing his own visions. In the preceding chapters, the author had reported how Daniel had interpreted the visions of others.
This first vision is parallel to that of Ch. 2: the great statue and the stone that had destroyed it, becoming a great mountain.
According to the interpretation of that vision, the stone indicated the coming of the eschatological kingdom.
The interpretation that Daniel receives about the vision of the Son of Man goes in the same direction; only, now, the Son of Man symbolizes the Kingdom of the people of Israel, the holy ones of the Most High.
Two points need attention: the fact that Daniel is speaking of the end of times, and the collective value of the figure of the Son of Man. He is one, and at the same time he is the whole people.
