他的名字(’eli ya hu)本身就是一個生命綱領：

「厄里」意為「我的神」

「雅」是雅威－以色列的神－名字的開頭

「胡」意為「他」

合起來，這幾個字就是一句話：「耶威，祂是我的神。」我不敬拜其他偶像。我永遠站在祂面前，隨時準備遵行他的旨意。

因著他堅定的態度，厄里亞也能作為神的使者站在君王面前，宣告掌管降雨的不再是巴耳。

Elijiah “stands” in the presence of the Lord.

His given name is by itself a program of life:

“Eli” means: “My God”

“Ya” is the beginning of the Name of Yahweh, the God of Israel

“Hu” means: “he”.

Taken together, these words are a sentence: “Yahweh, He is my God.” I do not adore other idols. I continually stand in front of Him, ready to fulfill His will.

Because of his steadfast attitude Elijiah can also stand in front of the king as God’s ambassador and announce him that the one in control of rain is not Baal anymore.
