聖伯鐸希望門徒蒙受恩典與平安，並且，因著對天主和主耶穌的認識，他們的平安日益豐富。

為了闡明所賜知識的豐盛，聖伯鐸列舉門徒所領受的諸多恩賜。

藉著這些恩賜，天主實現了祂的應許，引領信徒走向虔誠的生活，並讓他們分享祂的神性。

然而，為了使這願望得以實現，信徒們需要竭盡所能地累積德行，最終達到愛的圓滿。

我們可以說，聖伯鐸的建議遵循賺錢的邏輯：如果不努力賺錢，金錢就會減少，最後消失。

Saint Peter expresses for his disciples the desire that for them grace and peace be increasingly abundant in the knowledge of God and the Lord Jesus.

To explain the richness of the bestowed knowledge, the Apostle makes a long list of the gifts received. Through such gifts, God fulfils his promise, leads the believers towards a pious life and lets them share his own divinity.

However, in order that the desire for increase may become reality, the believers need to make every effort possible to acquire virtue upon virtue, to reach the fulness of love.

We could say that what Peter suggests follows the logic of making money: if there is no effort to make more money, money decreases and disappears.
