May 23 Seventh Week of Easter Saturday First Reading

The conclusion of Luke’s literary work shows us a very simple scene: Paul sharing in all simplicity the good news with all who liked to learn about it.

Jerusalem, the religious center from which everything started and to which everything tended is now far away, together with the Jews and their controversies. The great city of Rome in a sense disappears: yes, apparently it is the center of the world, but according to Luke what matters now is the dialogue among Paul and his guests. That is the new spiritual city that is continuously under construction, the kingdom of God that lives in the exchange of his Eternal Word, “with full confidence and without impediment” (the last words of the book).
