May 22 Seventh Week of Easter Friday First Reading

In the same way as Jesus, Paul too faces the Jews first, then the Romans and another King Herod; during the passion, Pilate had sent Jesus to his father.

As happened in Corinth, the Roman governor is perplexed about a trial that does not fit into the Roman legal system.

This fact gives us an assurance that the relationship with Jesus is beyond the grasp of human laws.

Let us recall the response that Saint Justin gave to the prefect Rusticus, who asked him to believe in the gods and pay homage to the emperors. Justin replied: "Nothing can be blamed or accused of anyone who obeys the commandments of our Savior Jesus Christ."
