We read the section that deals with God’s promises, if the people observe the commands of the Law.

He will send His Angel, the bearer of His personal presence. The angel will lead the people to conquer the Promised Land. At the same time, the Angel will also be a witness against the people, if they do not observe the Law, and punish them.

God’s promise gives courage and consolation. At the same time, God alerts his people: to live in His Presence, under the guidance of His Angel, is not a light matter. It takes all the energies, because it is the only important thing men can do.
