Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon is a cinematic poem where gravity is merely a suggestion and every sword fight carries the weight of a broken heart: a reflection on self-denial and the pursuit of freedom. The plot follows the legendary warrior Li Mu Bai (Chow Yun-fat) and the stoic Yu Shu Lien (Michelle Yeoh) as they chase after his stolen Green Destiny sword. However, the heart of the movie is Jen Yu, an aristocratic bride-to-day who struggles against the confines of society.
