影片創作源於內蒙古草原沙漠化及牧民搬遷政策，將甘肅“覓婿養夫（嫁夫養夫）”的真實故事移植到蒙古草原拍攝，主要取景於未搬遷的蒙古牧民家庭，除本片女主人公圖雅的扮演者餘男外，均選用當地非職業演員。蒙古族婦女圖雅，因丈夫巴特爾打井致殘，而獨自承擔家庭重擔，長期勞作，導致腰椎病變，最終決定離婚並帶著巴特爾徵婚。面對求婚者提出的進城生活等方案，圖雅堅持再婚條件是新丈夫需要和她共同照料前夫和孩子，最終，鄰居森格在打井過程中打動圖雅並向她求婚。

The film, inspired by the desertification of the Mongolian grasslands and the government relocation efforts, is based on a true story. It is mainly shot in the home of a Mongolian family that had not yet relocated and most of the actors in it are non-professionals. Tuya, (Yu Nan), a Mongolian woman, bears the burden of the family after her husband remains paralyzed in a well-drilling accident. After years of hard labor, Tuya suffers from lumbar spine problems, and ultimately decides to divorce her husband and remarry. However, she rejects all those who propose moving to the city and insists that her new husband must help care for her former husband and child. Tuya’s harsh life, deeply connected with the land, exemplifies the virtues of responsibility for the loved ones, resilience, and an unyielding will to survive.
