厄里於是明白，是上主叫了幼童，
便對撒慕爾說：「去睡罷! 假使有人再叫你，你就回答說：請上主發言，你的僕人在此靜聽。」
這位老司祭尚未蒙主的啟示，但他經驗豐富。他慷慨地將自己的經驗傳授給小孩。
小孩敞開心扉接受長者的建議，長者也謙卑地分享他的經驗。
教會就是這樣運作的。
Then Eli perceived that the Lord was calling the boy. 9 Therefore Eli said to Samuel, “Go, lie down; and if he calls you, you shall say, ‘Speak, Lord, for thy servant hears.’”
The old priest has not received the call from the Lord. However, he has experience. He generously puts his experience at the service of the little boy.
The boy opens himself to the advice of the elder, the elder humbly suggests what his experience taught him.
In this way the Church lives.
