The times of prophet Micha were times of relatively good economic situation – for a few people. The richness of the few was paid by the poor and oppressed classes. They were exploited mercilessly.
Together with this, the rich were forgetful of God, even mocking prophecy: “If a man should go about and utter wind and lies, saying, “I will preach to you of wine and strong drink,” he would be the prophet for this people!” (2:11)
Against all this, the prophet pronounces his oracles. Punishment will follow disobedience, sin and violence.
Such a rule holds to our days. It is just a matter of time.
