July 16 Ordinary time Week 15 Thursday (Our Lady of Mount Carmel) First Reading

In these chapters, the prophet sings his hope in God and in the marvels He will accomplish. The prophet seems to speak of a far-away future, yet his hope is strong and lets him rejoice.

He knows that human power cannot accomplish anything. Therefore, his trust is on the Lord.

He even speaks of a resurrection of the dead; he uses the highly poetic and mysterious phrase: “Your dew is a dew of lights.”

From the prophet we can learn how to hope and enjoy our present time, the time in which we can contemplate the fulfilment of God’s promises.
