最好是自幼背負上主的重軛，

The literary style of the report of the fall and destruction of Jerusalem speaks volumes.

God is not mentioned. Everything is in the hands of the Chaldeans who destroy, pillage, kill and deport, leaving the minimum necessary for the bare physical survival of the place.

There are times in which things happen as reported in today’s text, when no explanation makes sense and only a little strength remains, barely to survive.

At times, however, such tragedies prepare new beginnings.

“It is good that one should wait quietly for the salvation of the Lord.  It is good for a man that he bear the yoke in his youth. Let him sit alone in silence when he has laid it on him; let him put his mouth in the dust— there may yet be hope”(Book of Lamentations 3:26-29).
