As the second dimension of salvation, after describing the unity of the believers with God, the new life in heaven they enjoy, Paul now talks of the universal unity of all peoples in Jesus.

Perhaps, this is a central point that Paul wants to communicate.

He talks to the Gentiles and explains to them how Jesus, in his own body, has created the new humanity, where all are brothers and sisters and share the same access to God’s presence.

We hear messages of fraternity everywhere. Everybody has his own project about fraternity and a peaceful relationship with other people.

However, only Jesus has the key to universal fraternity, because he creates it in himself, in his act of total self-giving, and at the same time he, and only he, unites humanity with God, because He is His Son, the Giver of God’s Spirit.
